Performance Opportunities
The Oakland Ballet School offers two opportunities for students to share their artistry and learned skills with their friends and family in our annual production of The Nutcracker and our Spring Concert. Students is Levels 1 & up are invited to participate in The Nutcracker held in December. All students are invited and encouraged to participate in our Spring Concert held in June. Performing is an important aspect of a dancer’s training. Whether the goal of one’s training is to become a professional dancer, performing before a live audience builds self-confidence, poise, and a feeling of accomplishment in all.
A permission slip and performance agreement will be sent home with all students towards the beginning of the Fall and Spring Terms and will be asked to be returned with a performance fee. Most rehearsals for pre-ballet and Level 1-2 students will be within their respective classes. Level 3/4/5 students will have scheduled rehearsals after their classes, along with scheduled mandatory Saturday rehearsals.
Students who decide to participate in The Nutcracker and/or our Spring Concert must commit to attend all classes, studio rehearsals, and dress rehearsals. Directors need be notified prior to any rehearsal that must be missed due to an emergency. Dancers with numerous missed rehearsals will be asked to understudy roles at the discretion of the director. Due to the large number of people involved in rehearsals, we ask that parents drop off their children and return at the end of rehearsal.
